Frequently asked questions
Common questions about my.courtdb.org and the Malaysia CourtDB MCP server.
What is Malaysia CourtDB?
Malaysia CourtDB is a structured database for Malaysian court judgment search. It indexes case numbers, courts, judges, decision dates, party names and appeal document references across the Federal Court, Court of Appeal, High Court, Sessions Court and Magistrates' Court.
Which courts are covered?
Records span Majistret (Magistrates' Court), Sesyen (Sessions Court), Tinggi (High Court), Rayuan (Court of Appeal) and Persekutuan (Federal Court). You can filter MCP searches by court category, court name, judge, party name, keyword and year of decision.
Is Malaysia CourtDB affiliated with the Malaysian government, eLaw.my or CLJLaw?
No. Malaysia CourtDB is an independent legal research service. It is not affiliated with Portal Rasmi Kerajaan Malaysia, eLaw.my, CLJLaw or any court authority. Always verify important findings against official sources.
How do I connect an AI assistant?
Use the Model Context Protocol (MCP) endpoint at https://my.courtdb.org/mcp. Add it as a custom connector in Claude, Cursor or another MCP client, then sign in with Google when prompted. See the setup guide for step-by-step instructions.
Why is Google sign-in required for MCP?
Google OAuth identifies your account, applies usage limits and keeps automated access controlled. Basic website browsing does not require sign-in; MCP tool calls do.
What MCP tools are available?
Malaysia_list_cases searches cases with filters such as case number, court category, judge, keyword, party name and decision year. Malaysia_get_case returns one case with parties, roles, linked company IDs and the appeal document list.
Are party names linked to companies?
Where a party matches a registered Malaysian business in our company database, Malaysia_get_case may include a linked companyId. Not every party is a company and not every company match is guaranteed to be correct.
Can I rely on this data for legal advice?
No. Malaysia CourtDB is provided for informational and research purposes only. Data may be incomplete, delayed or contain transcription errors. Do not use it as a substitute for professional legal advice or official court records.
